TRECASTAGNI
(CATANIA)
The
date of launch of Trecastagni is uncertain; first findings are dated
from the beginning of the fourteenth century. The etymology of the
name is uncertain, and there are several assumptions:
Tres
castaneae, name of the site where there were three big chestnut;
Tres Casti Agni, or "chaste three lambs," referring to
the holy martyrs Alfio, and Filadelfo Cirino, compatroni the country,
which stayed on site during their transfer from a Vast Lentini,
a place of martyrdom;
Tria Castra, difficult to interpret, but which presumably refers
to three camps of war.

While he was still speaking, a cloud came and
cast a shadow over them, and they became frightened
when they entered the cloud.
Then from the cloud came a voice that said, "This
is my chosen Son; listen to him."
